Before Your Appointment
Please complete your new patient registration forms before your visit when possible. These forms help us understand your medical history, medications, allergies, dental concerns, insurance information, and any symptoms you may be experiencing.
If you have recent radiographs from a previous dentist, you may request that they be forwarded to our office before your appointment. This gives Dr. Almaawi time to review image quality and determine whether the existing images are useful or whether updated images are needed.

Your Comprehensive Dental Exam
Through your comprehensive evaluation, you and Dr. Almaawi will learn together about the condition of your entire masticatory system. This includes your teeth, existing dental restorations, gums and bone support, temporomandibular joints (TMJs), jaw muscles, bite, and soft tissues of the mouth.
Your first visit may include the following evaluations:
- Head and neck exam – Dr. Almaawi will evaluate your jaw joints, salivary glands, lymph nodes, face, neck, and lips for swelling, tenderness, dryness, bleeding, or other findings that may need closer attention.
- Soft tissue and oral cancer screening – The soft tissues of the mouth include the tongue, cheeks, lips, floor of the mouth, roof of the mouth, throat area, and gums. This screening helps identify unusual sores, patches, lumps, or other changes that should be monitored or evaluated further.
- Periodontal evaluation – Dr. Almaawi will check your gums and supporting bone around the teeth. Periodontal measurements help evaluate gum health, inflammation, pocket depth, and signs of bone loss.
- Bite and occlusion evaluation – Your dentist will check how your teeth fit together and whether your bite may be contributing to jaw tension, tooth wear, headaches, or chronic discomfort.
- Clinical tooth examination – Each tooth surface is checked for decay, cracks, wear, failing restorations, sensitivity, or other problems that may affect comfort and long-term stability.
