Always paired with both care & attention to detail

Restorative dentistry repairs and rebuilds teeth that have been affected by decay, trauma, fracture, or wear. The goal is to return each tooth or the full arch to healthy function and structural integrity, preserving as much natural tooth structure as possible in the process.

At Ashland Family and Implant Dentistry, restorative care ranges from tooth-colored ceramic fillings and CEREC same-day crowns for individual damaged teeth to full-arch reconstructions using implant-supported dentures. Dr. Almaawi manages the full process in-house, including implant placement and restoration. Most general dental practices refer this work to outside oral surgeons or periodontists. Patients from Ashland, Framingham, Natick, Hopkinton, Holliston, Southborough, Milford, and across MetroWest benefit from this fully in-house approach.

What Sets Our Practice Apart

  • Dr. Ali Almaawi, DDS, FICOI Fellowship-trained implant dentist
  • In-house implant placement and restoration, with no outside referrals
  • CBCT 3D imaging for precise treatment planning
  • CEREC same-day crown milling no temporary crowns, no return visits
  • Complete restorative care under one roof for patients across MetroWest

Accurate Diagnosis and Efficient Treatment

We use 3D cone beam CT imaging and digital intraoral scanning to plan restorative treatments with accuracy before any procedure begins. For teeth requiring crowns, our in-house CEREC system mills and places ceramic crowns in a single appointment, eliminating temporary restorations and a follow-up fitting visit.

For missing teeth, implants are planned using 3D imaging data for precise placement that accounts for bone density and the position of surrounding anatomical structures.

Which Restorative Treatment Do You Need?

Choosing the right restorative option depends on the extent of damage, the location of the affected tooth, and your long-term goals. Here is how the most common restorative treatments compare:

  • Dental crowns — Ideal for teeth with extensive decay, large fractures, or after root canal treatment. A crown covers and protects the entire visible portion of the tooth
  • Dental bridges — Replace one or more missing teeth by anchoring an artificial tooth to the adjacent natural teeth. A good option when implants are not suitable
  • Dentures — Full or partial removable appliances that replace multiple missing teeth. Modern dentures are lighter and more natural-looking than previous generations
  • Dental implants — A permanent, bone-integrated replacement for missing teeth that functions and feels like a natural tooth. The most durable long-term solution
  • Tooth-colored fillings — Composite resin fillings to repair cavities and minor damage while matching the natural shade of your tooth

Dr. Ali Almaawi, DDS, FICOI evaluates each case individually and recommends the most conservative, effective treatment. All restorative work at Ashland Family and Implant Dentistry is completed in-house.

Restorative Dentistry FAQ

Does dental insurance cover restorative treatment?
Most dental insurance plans cover a portion of restorative procedures including crowns, bridges, fillings, and dentures. Coverage varies by plan. Visit our payment and insurance page or call 508-881-7700 with your plan details.

How long does a dental crown last?
With proper care, a dental crown typically lasts 10–15 years or longer. Factors like oral hygiene, bite alignment, and habits like teeth grinding affect longevity.

Are dental implants better than bridges?
Implants preserve bone structure and do not require altering adjacent teeth, making them the preferred option for many patients. However, bridges may be recommended when bone density or health conditions limit implant candidacy. Learn more about implant options.

How long does restorative treatment take?
Fillings and simple repairs are often completed in a single visit. Crowns, bridges, and dentures typically require two visits. Implant treatment involves multiple phases over several months. Dr. Ali Almaawi, DDS, FICOI provides a clear timeline during your consultation.

What if I need multiple restorative procedures?
We create comprehensive treatment plans that sequence procedures for the best clinical outcome. Book a consultation to discuss a full-mouth rehabilitation plan.
